New Regulations for Pool and Spa Safety Barriers

New Regulations for Pool and Spa Safety Barriers

In an attempt to dramatically decrease the number of drowning incidents in homes, the Victorian Government have recently proposed a new set of regulations for Pool and Spa owners. These requirements will involve owners to have their swimming pools and spas registered, inspected and be compliant on a regular basis with their local council.

So, what does this mean for pool and spa owners?

Soon, all owners will need to register with their local council. They will need to provide details about their safety barriers and organise to have them inspected to see if they comply with the safety regulations. The owner will need to go through the process of receiving a certification of compliance. Should there be any defects, the owner will be issued with a non-compliant certificate, and will be required to fix it immediately.

The new requirements have been introduced to improve the overall safety around swimming pools and spas within Victoria.

If you have any questions, please contact your local council or SPASA (The Swimming Pool & Spa Association Victoria) for more information.
